Hello all, and Happy Fall! It's gorgeous here, as I'm sure it is there, as well. It's been mild so far, with lots of nice color and piney smells and acorns plopping down all over the place. Everyone is saying that it's going to be another horrible winter in Maine--even worse than last year--so that makes this nice fall especially sweet.
I have been working for a couple of weeks at a part-time seasonal job at a craft store--Craft Mania--and am enjoying it more than I anticipated. Craft customers are quite nice people, I guess, and most of the people who work there are fun. I am not super fond of blowing up the helium balloons, as they sometimes pop, and of course the excessive packaging involved in any retail store is a bummer, but aside from that, it's going well. It's quite a wonderful thing to have a paycheck again!
The other news is that I'm moving in with a neighbor--brother Philip is getting busy painting and gluing and using power tools, so I'd rather not be around for that, and we've done well making the living situation work for six months, so better not to press our luck!
I'm still applying for all kinds of work and am hopeful, but goodness, I cannot believe HOW LONG it takes to even hear a "no" from most places--I've only actually heard one official "no" and then I wonder, am I going to hear back from the other companies ever? . It's kind of driving me crazy, and with that and the change of seasons, I've been rather low at times. It was so affirming to turn in my application at the craft store and get hired on the spot--I was like, thank you!!!!! Finally!!!!!
So that's it for now. Everything is still very much up in the air as to what I will be doing or even where I'll be living. I'm just trying to stay productive and not get too down, and now at least I've got some recent retail experience, so that could be useful in getting SOME SORT OF JOB, ANY SORT OF JOB at some point!
Hope you are all well and having a wonderful autumn! --Ivy
